Registered tourist fishing business
Being an officially registered tourist fishing business means that Fjordcamp operates in accordance with Norwegian regulations for tourist fishing. This includes strict requirements for safety, reporting and responsible management of marine resources.
As a registered business, we are obliged to report all catches taken by our guests, ensure that fishing is carried out in a sustainable manner, and provide clear guidelines so that visitors can comply with applicable laws.
The registration also confirms that our facilities, procedures and equipment meet national requirements for safety and quality, ensuring that guests can enjoy fishing in Norway in a legal, safe and responsible manner.
Rules for tourist fishing
Norway has strict rules to protect marine resources and ensure sustainable fishing.
As an officially registered tourist fishing operator, Fjordcamp can arrange for the necessary export registration.
Please note that this registration can only be granted if you are staying with us or renting one of our boats, and only when all regulatory requirements have been met.
Export quota
Tourists are allowed to take up to 15 kg of fish (filleted or whole, gutted) out of Norway.
This only applies if the fish is caught at a registered tourist fishing operation, such as Fjordcamp.
Mandatory catch reporting
New rules require all guests to report their catch daily.
Fjordcamp sends a registration link where the catch must be reported every day before 11:00 PM.
Even if you have not received anything, you must still register “0” for that day.
General liability
Follow the minimum dimensions for each species (see separate overview).
Show consideration for wildlife, boat traffic and nature.
Never throw fish waste or garbage in harbor areas – only at sea, at least 200 meters from land. Show consideration for both nature and others.
Salmon seasons and protected areas
Fishing is not permitted near river mouths where salmon and sea trout migrate.
Always check local signs or maps for protected areas and temporary restrictions.
Local restrictions
Some areas have extra rules, such as marine protected areas or no-motor zones.
If you are unsure, please ask at reception – we will be happy to help you.
Allow equipment
Tourists can only fish with handheld equipment, such as fishing rods, hand lines or other similar recreational equipment.
Nets, pots, line fishing and trolling with reels are not permitted.
